The two-stage design and build contract, valued at £70 million, was procured through Pagabo’s Major Works Framework, with GRAHAM as principal contractor.

The business will deliver almost 200 new council homes, a nursery, community centre and two retail units as part of the regeneration project of the area first built in the 1960s.

Proposals for the Lakes Estate were given planning permission in March 2022, resulting first in the demolition of Serpentine Court ahead of wider redevelopment.

The scheme is also supported by a grant of just under £15 million from Homes England.

“GRAHAM is delighted to be on site and look forward to building new homes and facilities that will enhance the wellbeing and vitality for the residents and local community,” said Jonathan Hall, managing director of GRAHAM’s Building South division.

“We have significant experience delivering residential developments, having established a strong reputation for high-quality construction.

“I know our team will work hard to successfully deliver this significant regeneration project for Milton Keynes.”

Ben Jones, head of delivery – South of England at Pagabo, added: “We’ve worked with the project team at MKCC since early 2021 to support and deliver the procurement, via our Major Works 2020 framework. The delivery of social value for MKCC has been vital to this project. We’re really looking forward to seeing GRAHAM deliver that, as part of this flagship project.”
