Utilities contractor OCU Group has appointed a new non-executive director.

Tania Songini

In addition to joining the main board, Tania Songini will also chair the audit and risk and ESG committees.

Songini has had an executive career spanning more than two decades, spent mostly in senior finance roles at Siemens AG.

She is an experienced non-executive director and holds non-executive directorships at Thrive Renewables, Guernsey Electricity, Energy Systems Catapult, and UK Infrastructure Bank.

Songini has a strong understanding of finance, commercial risk and the management of large, complex projects.

More recently, she has developed a deep understanding of developments in renewable energy and the wider energy transition in the UK and beyond.

David Taylor-Smith, chairman of OCU, said: “On behalf of the board, I am delighted to welcome Tania to OCU. Tania will be a valuable addition to the Board and has a wealth of relevant industry, finance and board experience. Her specific industry knowledge, particularly with regards to renewables and the UK’s energy transition, will significantly enhance the skills and expertise of the Board as we continue to execute our strategy.”

Songini added: “I am delighted to join the board of a group as dynamic as OCU. The business is going through a period of change and rapid growth as it pivots to being not only one of the country’s leading utility services contractors but also a leading contractor for the transformative change in the UK’s energy landscape. I look forward to working with David, OCU’s CEO Michael Hughes and the wider Board to deliver the group’s strategy.”
