Pre-planned inspections during three days in November last year at the Unit 1 HR Building on the Somerset site led to ONR identifying the breaches and issuing four notices to contractors.

These required improvements to be made to address the shortcomings and prevent reoccurrence.

There were no consequences to employees, the public or environment, ONR said at the time.

However, the regulator identified the “potential for harm and risk of serious injury”, which required regulatory action.

A further two enforcement notices were served at the time on licensee NNB Generation Company (HPC) Limited and contractor REEL UK

However, the notice served on NNB Generation Company has since been extended to 31 July and the one served on REEL UK has been extended to 31 August.

Since the notices were issued, inspections at the site have noted improvements and progress made towards compliance, said ONR.
