The former Top Club, in Ashbrow, Kirklees, is being turned into a centre of education, digital technology, culture and heritage for local people.

The comprehensive renovation over the next few months will involve the contractor and its local supply chain, West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Kirklees Local TV and members of the community, as well as Local Services 2 You, a group of community businesses that recently took over the premises.

Local supply chain partners include Guarding UK, SES Engineering Services, OFR Consultants, Lucion, IKO, LSS, Wingate, Ramfabs, Akzo Nobel, and JIG UK.

Willmott Dixon is also currently delivering a new HQ in Dewsbury for West Yorkshire Police and a new fire station in Birkenshaw for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, via SCAPE.

Around 50 per cent of the project workforce live within 20 miles of both sites.

The club restoration is part of social value work Willmott Dixon is undertaking as part of its contract with local police.

“We’re delighted to play our part in helping our friends at Local Services 2 You continue to provide invaluable support to this community,” said Willmott Dixon Yorkshire director Chris Yates. “A huge thank you to absolutely all our brilliant volunteers. I can’t wait to see this become a safe and welcoming space inspiring, engaging and creating opportunities for everyone.”
