Heart-warming tributes have poured in for the memory of a beloved construction worker following his sudden passing.
Structural steelwork contractor J&D Pierce has paid its respects to Mr Stephen Jay-Hanmer who worked at the Ayrshire business as construction director.
The company described Mr Jay-Hanmer, also known as “JJ”, as a dear colleague and long-standing friend, adding he will be sorely missed.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear colleague and friend, Stephen Jay-Hanmer (affectionately known as JJ),” J&D Pierce posted on social media.
“Stephen joined the company in July of this year and undertook the role of construction director, to which he carried out with his noted vigour and related experience.
“Stephen, through his previous employment, was a longstanding friend to many of our staff within our Scarborough office and will be sorely missed by everyone at J & D Pierce.
“At this difficult and sad time, our thoughts are with Stephen’s family and friends.”
Hundreds of people also shared their sympathies online with Mr Jay-Hanmer’s family and friends, and many also shared fond memories of him.
One person said he was “one of the nicest guys I will ever meet”. Another said he “lit up a room with his personality”. One person said it “was a pleasure to call this amazing guy a good friend”.
