Former Hinkley operations boss joins McGee

Specialist engineering contractor McGee has announced a senior leadership restructure.

Richard Wilkinson has been appointed to the newly created position of operations director, responsible for delivery of core activities from demolition to structures. 

Wilkinson has more than 30 years’ industry experience and his background in delivering major infrastructure projects includes as operations lead for Laing O’Rourke’s Expanded Structures at Hinkley Power Station. 

“We are delighted to welcome Richard to the board of directors,” said Seb Fossey, managing director. “His wealth of experience gained working on major infrastructure projects, as well as his focus on operational excellence and people-first approach, means he is well placed to spearhead our core activity offering.” 

Wilkinson added: “I am thrilled to join McGee during such an exciting period of growth. The company has an outstanding reputation in the industry for delivering high-quality engineering solutions on some of London’s most complex projects. I’m excited to lead the team in delivering these.” 

Finance director Bevan White has also been made a board director at McGee. 

James Simpson has been promoted to construction engineering director and will continue to oversee the digital engineering and temporary works teams. 

Vivienne Inmonger will take over the role of company secretary and hold the role of general counsel for the Group, joining the senior management team. 

Wendy Myddleton has been promoted to people director. 

And Michael O’Brien has been promoted to support services director and will oversee the business’ recycling, temporary services, and plant and haulage operations. 

Fossey added: “An extra-strong foundation has been put in place on which the company can plan for forecast growth and expansion. These promotions are a result of their continued commitment and invaluable expertise that are perfectly aligned to our specialist engineering model and delivering on our strategy.”
