The new branch will be built on a 6.25-acre industrial goods yard in Selsdon, near the M23/M25 intersection.

The site was purchased from SME property provider, The Arch Company, on a 146-year lease and is part of the Group’s property development strategy.

It added it will support construction customers serving London and its surrounding areas.

The build area can also be reconfigured to serve lightside, heavyside and specialist construction companies.

The Group has also hinted on social media at a new branch in Lincoln, writing: “Lincoln.. put on your kecks.. we’re coming for ya. Keep your eyes open for a brand new branch heading your way very soon.”

The Travis Perkins Group portfolio also includes Toolstation and the specialist building materials distributors BSS, Keyline and CCF.

Nick Pinney, Group property director, said: “At Travis Perkins Group we continually review our property portfolio to identify value creation opportunities. The Selsdon property is a high-quality asset that will give us a great opportunity to develop a site that will feature one of the largest Travis Perkins general merchant branches in the country, enhance our wider customer proposition in Croydon and secure our presence there for the longer term.”
