Mitton Group goes into administration

Begbies Traynor consultants, Bob Maxwell and Julian Pitts, have been appointed as administrators. 

It follows a string of notices of intention to appoint an administrator filed on 24 August by the Group’s main businesses, including: 

• Mitton Mechanical Services Limited 
• Mitton Aftercare Limited 
• Mitton Electrical Services Limited 
• H. Mitton Limited 

The Bradford M&E specialist’s collapse follows the loss of main customer Morrisons Supermarket earlier this year, it is understood. 

Some staff have been retained by administrators to assist in the sale of the business assets. 

However, there has been 160 redundancies. 

Accounts for H. Mitton Limited to January 2022 show Group turnover in the year fell by 9 per cent from £36.9 million in 2021 to £33.7 million, but Group profit at the time was recorded at £583,546, compared to £232,889 in 2021.  

Mitton Group was approached for comment.
