Jones are overseeing the £300 million initiative near Dalmellington. This development, led by Brockwell Energy, was conceptualized in 2016 and is set to produce 220.5 megawatts of renewable energy, accompanied by a commitment to provide £65 million in community benefits over four decades.

In May, Jones Bros completed initial steps, including building the SP Energy Networks substation platform. The firm will now focus on tasks like constructing foundations, creating new access tracks, and upgrading existing ones for turbine delivery. Contracts Director Garod Evans highlighted their reputation and efficient team as assets for this 20th Scottish wind farm.

Around 100 personnel, including apprentices, have been added to the Scotland-based workforce from the local talent pool, reinforcing the company’s team for peak work periods.

Garod emphasized, “We’re thrilled to provide job opportunities for the local community, as we did with the nearby Benbrack Wind Farm. Just like in our previous projects, we’ll actively seek collaboration with local contractors to enhance our supply chain.”

The wind farm in south west Scotland is projected to begin generating power in autumn 2024.

Richard Buckland, Project Manager at Brockwell Energy, commented, “Jones Bros team’s engagement during the tendering and contracting phases was delightful. Their consistent and dependable approach, along with valuable and innovative ideas for foundation design and layout, has been noteworthy. We’re excited to collaborate with them as we bring this significant project to fruition.”

In related news, EDF has recently entered a seven-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Brockwell Energy, securing the procurement of renewable energy from the wind farm.
