JN Bentley sees strong performance in latest results

JN Bentley has reported a strong financial performance in its latest results.

The construction and civil engineering contractor saw increased turnover and profit as part of its full accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022. 

Highlights 

  • Turnover: £263.4 million (FY2021: £227.9 million) 
  • Gross profit: £16.1 million (FY2021: £8.7 million) 
  • Operating profit: £6.4 million (FY2021: £1.1 million) 
  • Profit before tax: £6.3 million (FY2021: £841,000) 
  • Profit for the year: £4.9 million (FY2021: £1.8 million) 

Total comprehensive income for the year was £4.9 million, compared to £3.9 million in 2021.  

Company cash (at the bank and in hand) was reported at £10.8 million (FY2021: £5.9 million). 

Net assets and total shareholder funds were valued at £19.5 million, compared to £14.5 million in 2021.  

Established in 1972, JN Bentley combines Mott MacDonald and JBA Bentley. 

Its primary focus is on the water, wastewater and environmental management sectors. 

Outlook 

“The market strategy to underpin future growth surrounds selective bidding to secure work with new clients in the UK water and wastewater sector, further development of opportunities with existing water company clients through a differentiated service offering and exploiting opportunities in other sectors, as has been the case with clients such as Rolls-Royce, Associated British Ports, and Canal and River Trust, with this strategy supported by membership of the Mott MacDonald Group and the opportunities to explore new sectors this presents,” said the Group.
