Redrow’s Lower Berse Farm plans include provisions for a new primary school and community centre.
The housebuilder has launched a public consultation for a new residential development on the former farmland.
Just off the A483, the scheme is part of Wrexham Borough Council’s Emerging Development Plan, which aims to build 7,750 homes by 2028.
Redrow expects to deliver 400 homes following a strategic plan before the council’s broader project.
Full scope
Spanning 73 hectares, Lower Berse Farm will include the following:
- 1500 homes (15% will be affordable homes).
- A community space.
- A primary school and nursery.
- Retail and cafe spaces.
From an agricultural side, Redrow will develop green spaces and parks to retain the site’s natural assets like trees, hedgerows and water features.
Additionally, wider access to the A525 Ruthin Road will improve transport links to the area, with pedestrian and cycle routes throughout the site.
Public transport like buses and the Wrexham General Train Station, two kilometres from the site, are an equal distance from the site and Wrexham town centre.
“Whilst the land is currently used for agricultural purposes, Lower Berse Farm has been identified as a key location for development in the emerging Local Development Plan,” said Redrow in its consultation statement.
“This site will enable Redrow to deliver much-needed new homes to Wrexham whilst protecting other greenfield sites across the Borough from speculative development.”
