McAleer & Rushe break ground at Dockside in Edinburgh

McAleer & Rushe has started construction of four apartment blocks containing hundreds of homes in Edinburgh.

The firm was appointed by property investor Goodstone Living to build at least 338 build-to-rent homes in Leith.  

The waterfront scheme, named Dockside, is spread across four towers on a 2.5-acre site.

  • co-working areas  
  • fitness centre  

There will also be 1.3 acres of public realm, including parks and a public walkway connecting the historic Albert Docks with Ocean Terminal, a nearby shopping, dining and leisure hub.

Community groups and local enterprises will be able to use available commercial space on site, with other benefits including access to learning, work experience and training opportunities for youngsters and those from under-represented backgrounds. 

It is understood the scheme will create around 60 construction jobs.
