The move aims to boost growth in two of its fastest-growing global markets:

  • Rob Lemming to become managing director for public sector & life sciences
  • Alister Grey to managing director for technology and manufacturing

This follows the announcement of a major restructure of the company’s executive leadership team with the combined group chairman and chief executive role set to split between Mark Reynolds (chairman) and Jason Millett (CEO) in 2025.

Lemming joined the firm in 2014 and worked on AstraZeneca’s flagship Discovery Centre in Cambridge, as well as growing Mace’s presence in the UK life sciences and pharmaceutical market.

Part of Lemming’s role will be to help clients respond to the demands of climate change and achieve their net zero goals.

Grey joined Mace in 2016 and helped develop Mace’s Construction Management delivery model, including the £1.8 billion Battersea Power Station Phase 2 in London.

As managing director, Grey will concentrate on UK, Irish and European data centre markets and support Mace Consult’s services in semi-conductors and gigafactories globally.

Lemming said: “Global pharmaceutical companies are driving wide-scale capital investment programmes to create new, cutting-edge life science facilities enabling ground-breaking research that societies will rely on for decades to come.

I look forward to growing Mace’s presence in both of these critical sectors as social infrastructure benefits from this investment.”

Grey said: “With specialist teams of experts, working closely with our clients and supply chain, we have led the way on the delivery of challenging projects like the construction of hyperscale data centres.

“We are already delivering some of the most complex projects in the market and I look forward to playing a vital role in its resilience, safety and security.

CEO for Construction at Mace, Gareth Lewis, said: “The appointments of Alister and Rob represent how Mace is tapping into developing markets and the depth of talent we have in our own teams to deliver our plans for growth.”
