The structural steel contractor in North Yorkshire bought Voortman for around £21 million, it has been reported.

Voortman, headquartered in Rijssen, the Netherlands, makes products and solutions for the Steel Processing industries.

It is understood Voortman employs more than 250 people.

Severfield said the acquisition will allow the company to accelerate its European growth strategy and diversify its end markets.

The acquisition is expected to complete in early April or following satisfactory completion of the works council consultation process as required under Dutch law.
