The contractor plans to apply the existing capabilities and skillsets of its Telecoms division to emerging digital infrastructure markets such as the rollout of 5G and electric vehicle (EV) charging installations.

Newly renamed Galliford Try Digital Infrastructure (GTDI), the business provides property access and installation of telecoms infrastructure for the Radio Access Network market – while expanding into sectors such as Defence and private 5G networks, which are booming as IT security becomes more important.

The division is one earmarked for growth as a key margin driver for the group over the next five years.

As part of its updated Sustainable Growth Strategy, the contractor also intends to re-enter the Affordable Homes market after exiting four years ago. Chief executive Bill Hocking said the move will help the group deliver a 4 per cent margin increase across the business and exceed revenue of £2.2 billion by 2030, up from £1.4 billion today.

The Telecoms unit has been operating in its respective market since 1991 and has delivered more than 25,000 wireless and core network installations across all operators within the UK.

Andy Duggins, managing director for GTDI, said: “I am excited to be leading our team at this time of growing opportunities, and our new rebrand will help us reflect more effectively our place within the market.

“Demand for our offering, including electric vehicle charging and renewable energy infrastructure will only increase, and I look forward to working with all the team to take our business forward.”
