The Vinci and McAlpine joint venture, IHP, awarded the energy service company the contract for mechanical, electrical, and public health services (MEP).

Dalkia is a subsidiary of the electric utility company Électricité de France (EDF).

Last year, Integrated Health Projects (IHP) was awarded a £26 million design and build contract to deliver improvements to Swindon Great Western Hospital.

This project will include a new facility, providing:

  • Maternity, neonatal, paediatric and gynaecology services
  • Full delivery suite for 11 births, equipped with two obstetric theatres
  • A maternity ward comprising 24 single occupancy bedrooms
  • A neonatal unit with capacity for 16 cots
  • Children’s ward with overnight accommodation for families

The facility is planned to be three storeys, BREEAM certified and to replace the existing building.

The project is expected to be delivered in 2025.

Dalkia regional director, Tony Walker, said: “We are delighted to have secured this project at Countess of Chester Hospital and to help create these new facilities that will provide support to patients and benefit  the wider community.

This project follows the successful delivery of The Paterson Building, and we are looking forward to working with IHP and the Trust to deliver this project, further enhancing our expertise  within this sector.
