editor

Royal BAM Group has announced the appointment of Kim Sides as the new executive director of construction for its UK and Ireland division.

Kim Sides.

Sides will sit on the BAM UK and Ireland Divisional Leadership Team and report to chief operating officer John Wilkinson.

With more than 25 years’ experience in global property development and infrastructure, she has held leadership roles across operations, stakeholder management, construction, finance and legal for some of the world’s biggest developers, including Laing O’Rourke and Lendlease.

During her career Sides has helped deliver some iconic developments, including the Barangaroo project in Sydney and then in a commercial capacity on The Exchange, TRX, in Kuala Lumpur.

Most recently she was chief strategy officer and general counsel at Mura Technology.

Sides will take up her role as head of UK construction on 2 April.

She said: “I am excited to be joining BAM and I look forward to getting to work with the BAM Construction team so we can build on its heritage and acknowledged expertise in delivering sustainable, quality projects for its clients and communities.

Wilkinson added: “I am delighted Kim has agreed to join the UK and Ireland team. She is a proven leader who puts a focus on bringing diverse and complex teams together, providing healthy support and challenge and getting positive results. She also brings a commercial and contractual edge, a deep understanding of risk and is someone who delivers.

“With sustainability sitting at the heart of our strategy, her experience of how this can drive success in the built environment and eye for detail in this area will be a huge benefit. I would also like to thank Simon Finnie, executive director, ventures, for stepping in to lead the construction segment over the past couple of months. Simon will continue to work with Kim to ensure a smooth transition during the second quarter of 2024.”
