Inside the deal: The takeovers are of GTEC Training Limited, a renewable energy training specialist, and Thormer Solutions Limited, the developer of Heatly, a heat pump system design app.

Hawes-based GTEC provides retrofit training and formal qualifications in the net zero space.

It has more than 19 locations throughout the UK and the Channel Islands and provided more than £3 million of funded training places through various government schemes in the last four years.

Thormer Solutions, a subsidiary of GTEC, developed an integrated software package and app, Heatly, which digitalises, expedites and improves heat pump design and installation accuracy, it says.

Managing director Griff Thomas said the acquisition will accelerate market deployment of Heatly for the heat pump sector.

GTEC will continue to operate as a standalone business.
