editor

Two housing providers have announced a merger, unlocking £100 million of investment.

Housing association Origin Housing has now joined the Places for People (PfP) Group Limited, bringing with it its 7,800-housing portfolio across London and the Home Counties (Herts).

Placemakers PfP, also in London, provide a range of construction developments from affordable housing to retirement homes to city apartments.

The businesses said the deal will unleash an additional £100 million of investment into their housing stock over the first 10 years post-merger, including in new homes, repairs and maintenance, local services, and new community hubs.

PfP subsidiary Origin will begin the process of transitioning into the group over the next year.

Greg Reed, group CEO of Places for People, said: “This year will mark 100 years since Origin Housing was founded, and together we will build on this great legacy of delivering affordable, quality housing in this part of the country.

“We will be able to use our resources to invest an additional £100 million into these 7,800 homes so we can ensure they are improved and maintained to the best standard.

“We will also support a wider range of services in local communities by recruiting, retaining and developing skilled and hardworking staff who know the area.

“In the longer term we will be looking to create community hubs and will be investing in ways that customers can have a stronger voice on things that matter to them most.”
