Major Housing Association appointed the manufacturing and construction business to its Church Elm Lane project, an affordable housing scheme in Dagenham.

The £1 million contract involves the installation of 347 infill panels across eight floors within the reinforced concrete frame, as well as internal and external insulation and brick tie channels.

This includes 100mm studs preinstalled with head shutters, windows and doors tailored to the housing association’s specifications.

The contractor said the use of its prefabricated panels product is expected to accelerate the construction programme on site by around 30 per cent.

British Offsite is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Weston Group, a builder of homes for more than 35 years.

Both its loadbearing (LB) and non-loadbearing (SFS) UNisystem products are an adaptable light gauge steel panel system used across a variety of project types, manufactured at its Horizon factory in Essex.

Its current output means the business has the capacity to produce the equivalent of 4,000 homes a year.

British Offsite managing director, Shaun Weston, said: “Working with Major Housing Association on the Church Elm Lane project is another step forward in our mission to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and affordable housing.

“By utilising our innovative UNisystem, we are not only accelerating the construction timeline but also ensuring that these new homes meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, also ensuring excellent thermal, acoustic, and fire protection.”
