The Gloucestershire-headquartered company has opened a new office in Motherwell – its first in Scotland.

The move aims to help meet growing demand for skilled workers across both site-based and office roles driven by major infrastructure projects, with long-term investment across power and energy transmission, as well as distribution, water, and highways sectors.

Scotland’s construction sector generated £16.7 billion in output in 2024 and is forecast to grow by around two per cent annually, according to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Over the next five years, infrastructure projects including rail electrification, the A9 dualling programme, and water and renewables investment, supported by contractors such as Balfour Beatty, AmcoGiffen, QTS Group, and Taziker Industrial, are expected to drive an average 6.5 per cent annual rise in output.

This will see workforce demand also rise, with an estimated 3,590 additional workers anticipated to be needed each year.

Hercules chief executive officer, Brusk Korkmaz said the company intends to support clients by developing local talent and investing in apprenticeships and digital onboarding processes.

“As Hercules expands into Scotland, we are energised by the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the nation’s infrastructure transformation,” he said.

Scotland stands at the forefront of the UK’s growth in renewables, transport, and civil engineering, but it faces a critical shortage of skilled labour.

“Our mission is to bridge that gap, delivering not just people, but pre-trained, safety-focused teams who are ready to make an immediate impact on major projects.

He noted that Hercules’ presence in Scotland will enable the business to work more closely with existing customers while contributing to workforce development aligned with the country’s long-term infrastructure and net-zero plans.

The expansion follows its recent acquisitions in the energy sector, including a majority stake in Lyons Power Services and its £15.7 million purchase of overhead powerline specialist Advantage NRG, as part of its strategy to expand in the power and energy sector.

Hercules is on track to report a record 2025, with revenue expected to exceed £118 million – up around 16 per cent from 2024 – adjusted EBITDA of £6.1 million, and pre-tax profit of £3.3 million, driven by strong UK infrastructure investment and its strategic acquisitions.
