Paul Brown, the chief executive of John Sisk & Son, has been named the next chairman of industry trade body Build UK.

Brown, who is currently vice chairman at Build UK, will succeed incumbent chairwoman Julie White at the organisation’s annual general meeting in September.
Brown has worked at John Sisk & Son for close to 12 years in total, spread across two employment periods.
He became chief executive officer (CEO) in January 2022, having previously served as chief operating officer (COO) for two years.
Brown also served as director of UK civils at Sisk between 2013-14.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Balfour Beatty for more than seven years, latterly as managing director – North West.
Brian Hume, health and safety manager at Balfour Beatty civil engineering, congratulated Brown on social media, writing: “Paul, absolutely delighted for you. Since meeting and working with you when you were with [Balfour Beatty] you always portrayed great leadership skills. You have excelled with the Sisk group. An exciting chapter for you.”
Another colleague wrote: “Congratulations Paul – look forward to hearing your strategy for the industry especially attracting and training young workers.”
Build UK said Brown is a “strong advocate” for innovation and collaboration across the industry, attracting young people and championing diversity in construction.
“You will know Paul as the CEO of John Sisk & Son Ltd, and also our current vice chair,” Build UK wrote about the appointment.
“The Build UK Board has supported the nomination for Paul to succeed Julie White at our AGM in September.
“We are looking forward to Paul being in post after the AGM on Tuesday 23 September.”
