Skanska UK has announced the appointment of a new operations director within its infrastructure business.
Dean Sporn will join Skanska in the new year, having spent the last eight years as director of enhancements within the major projects division at National Highways.
During his time there he has led multiple schemes including A417 Missing Link, M25 J10, and A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross.
Prior to that, Sporn, a civil engineer by trade, spent seven years as general manager of Australian-based CPB Contractors, leading a AU$2 billion operation in New South Wales and New Zealand, across infrastructure, civils, and healthcare sectors.
He said: “Skanska is forward-thinking, with a people-led culture driving performance.
“It’s commitment to values, behaviours and doing business in the right way is widely recognised in the industry.
“While I highly value my eight years with National Highways, I’m now looking forward to joining Skanska at what is an exciting time for the business.”
Andrew English, executive vice president at Skanska UK, said: “Dean will bring extensive infrastructure experience to Skanska, from the UK and overseas, and I very much look forward to welcoming him to the team.
“With his strong commitment to safety, quality and values-led approach, Dean will be an excellent addition to our highly experienced Infrastructure business.”
Skanska UK’s pre-tax profit surged last year as strong performances in facilities management and infrastructure sectors boosted an underperforming building sector.
Its operating profit soared to £54.1 million, with a margin of 4.3 per cent (FY2023: 0.5 per cent), a huge increased from £6.3 million in the previous financial year and a further increase from £12.7 million in the prior period.
Profit for the year was £57.5 million, compared to £20.4 million in 2023.
