The acquisition, valued at up to £15.7 million, includes an initial cash payment of £10.2 million, a deferred payment of approximately £1.5 million, and a one-year earn-out based on performance.

It is being financed through the company’s existing cash reserves and a new £6 million loan  from Wasdell Holdings, controlled by Hercules non-executive director substantial shareholder, Martin Tedham.

Chorley-based, Advantage NRG, which generated £11.1 million in revenue and £1.7 million in pre-tax profit in the year ended February 2025.

Its 155 operatives and training capabilities will be integrated into Hercules’ growing workforce and training infrastructure.

The move marks Hercules’ strategic entry into the UK power and energy sector, complementing the labour it already supplies to the infrastructure industry, amid a “once-in-a-generation” overhaul of the national electricity grid.

With National Grid proposals including £58 billion of investment and electricity demand expected to rise 64 per cent by 2035, the need for skilled overhead linesmen is expected to grow significantly.

Hercules chief executive, Brusk Korkmaz said: “We believe this strategic investment will enable Hercules, the Hercules Academy and Advantage NRG to grow together and play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the UK’s essential energy infrastructure.”

It marks Hercules’ third acquisition as part of its M&A strategy to scale operations in sectors with long-term, infrastructure-backed demand.

It follows Hercules’ recent acquisition of Quality Transport Training Ltd (QTT), a professional training provider focused on helping unemployed individuals into work through fully funded programmes, as well specialist construction recruitment agency Future Build Recruitment Limited in November 2023.
