Housing maintenance specialist Cardo Group has expanded its retrofit services offering to the construction sector with another business acquisition.

The group has agreed to take over the operations of specialist energy contractor SERS Energy Solutions Group Limited and SERS Energy Solutions (Scotland) Limited across England, Wales, and Scotland.
SERS was founded in 1990 and has more than 30 years of experience in providing external wall insulation and retrofit services to local authorities and housing providers.
Cardo group CEO, Liam Bevan, said: “Bringing the SERS team into Cardo Group marks an exciting opportunity to combine our shared expertise and values, all focused on improving homes across the UK.
“We’ve already seen the benefits of collaboration over the past year, and this next step gives us a stronger platform to invest in our people, grow our capabilities, and deliver even more value to our clients across the UK.”
Cardo Group was formed when social housing contractor LCB Group was sold by its founder, Bevan, now CEO of Cardo Group, to private equity firm Buckthorn Partners.
It was started to support social housing providers with compliance, retrofit, maintenance and decarbonisation services.
Cardo Group has developed its own business portfolio in recent years, most recently announcing the acquisition of Breyer Group’s roofing arm in the wake of the latter entering administration, and before that HeatCare Oil and Gas Limited, an energy services provider in Scotland.
Last year, housing maintenance specialist Cardo acquired building refurbishment and decorating business, A&N Lewis Limited.
It has also purchased the property maintenance division of construction solutions provider Osborne Group, and building maintenance specialist, Jefferies Contractors Limited.

Cardo operates across South Wales, the South West, London, the South East, the Midlands, and Scotland, providing a range of services which include:
- Retrofit and energy efficiency upgrades
- Responsive repairs, voids, and disrepair
- Compliance and statutory servicing
- Refurbishment and project works
- Mechanical and electrical (M&E) services
- Commercial buildings
- Planned maintenance (Decent Homes Standard)
SERS chief executive Mike Roberts said of the deal with Bevan: “This marks a positive next chapter for our clients and teams. We know Cardo shares that mission, and we’re confident this transition will create new opportunities to build on the legacy we’ve created over many years.”
