Wood replaces Alex Gilbert who will take up a new role within the group, and joins from AECOM where he was chief executive of Europe and India.

Before that Wood was chief capability officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and chief executive of civil infrastructure for EMEA.

Prior to joining AECOM, he held a range of senior positions across various sectors, including chief executive officer of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

He will now lead strategy, growth and operational delivery of Amey’s consulting business, which operates in the UK, Ireland and the US.

Wood said: “I am delighted to be joining the business at this exciting time for infrastructure development. Amey’s unique whole lifecycle expertise means it is well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities to deliver sustainable, resilient infrastructure for clients, and consulting capabilities are at the heart of that.”
