M Group revenue hits £3bn with latest acquisition

Infrastructure specialist M Group has announced a new acquisition – its second this month – boosting its revenue position.

Credit: M Group.

The group has just purchased Telent, a provider of operational technology and digital solutions for national infrastructure across the UK and Ireland.

M Group said Telent’s critical communications, network infrastructure and end-to-end cyber security services will enhance its own offering to telecom, transport, water, and energy sectors.

This includes long-standing relationships with Transport for London (TfL), National Highways, Network Rail, Virgin Media O2, BT, EE and Openreach.

Adjacent markets such as the public sector, defence, emergency services, and education are also more accessible to M Group.

“On completion of the transaction, M Group will be even better placed to tackle the evolving challenges of the ageing infrastructure across the UK and Ireland, combining M Group’s market leading infrastructure service offering with Telent’s leading technology and digital solution capabilities,” it said.

It follows M Group’s acquisition of retrofit contractor Aran Group earlier this month, deepening its presence in the decarbonisation market.

Aran delivers managed energy efficiency programmes on behalf of local authority and social housing clients.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, is part of AgilityEco’s strategy to strengthen its turnkey retrofit offering within Aran’s current market.

M Group chief executive, Andrew Findlay, said: “Our ambitious growth strategy reflects a combination of organic and inorganic growth and this acquisition builds on our strong track record of strategic M&A.

“It will enable us to deliver even greater value and expertise to our clients and so help the people, communities and economies of the UK and Ireland adapt to a changing world.”

This latest acquisition takes M Group’s revenue to more than £3 billion and the total businesses acquired by M Group to 22 since 2016.
