Glencar has been appointed main contractor for the design and build of a new 70,000 sq ft multi-use facility at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

The project will involve constructing a state-of-the-art building to a ‘shell’ specification, to provide flexible options for various tech companies.
Scope of works
- Extensive ‘cut & fill’, ground stabilisation, and retaining walls
- Pad foundations, steel frame, roofing & cladding
- Curtain walling and hard & soft landscaping
- Net zero carbon in construction
- BREEAM “very good” certification
Construction is now underway, starting with an initial six-week enabling works phase.
The overall development is scheduled for completion in February next year, with a total build programme of 50 weeks.

This project marks Glencar’s third life sciences development for Harwell, following the recent completion of a pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing facility.
