Galliford Try has been awarded a £56.4 million contract to deliver Fire Safety Improvements (FSI) at HMP Moorland.

The project will see the Building North East and Yorkshire team upgrade critical fire safety systems across the Category C prison on behalf of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
These include enhancements to fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire compartmentalisation, smoke extraction, roof vents, high-pressure misting units and fire doors.
“We have been working collaboratively at HMP Moorland for the past three years and have established a great relationship with the establishment,” said Matt Raynor, Galliford Try’s operations manager at HMP Moorland.
The scheme marks the region’s second major FSI contract this year, following the award of a £44.5 million contract at HMP Wakefield in February.
Ian Jubb, managing director of Galliford Try’s Building division, said: “Fire safety is a key priority for the MOJ, and we are proud to be playing our part in ensuring the highest standards are met at HMP Moorland.”
Galliford Try recently posted increased profit and revenue as it continues to make progress with its 2030 Sustainable Growth Strategy.
In the six months to 31 December 2024, revenue rose 12.7 per cent to £923 million from £819.1 million in the same period the year previous.
The firm generated a pre-tax profit of £20 million, up 53.8 per cent compared to £13 million in H1 2024.
