Contractors wanted for pipeline of new housing projects

editor

Construction firms have been put on alert for a raft of house building opportunities in Wales.

Powys County Council is inviting construction contractors experienced in leading housing schemes to attend its Meet the Buyer event at Welshpool Integrated Family Centre, on 13 March, between 10am and 4pm.

Housing development opportunities across north Powys include:

  • A 38-unit development of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Churchstoke
  • A 24-unit development of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llandrinio
  • An 18-unit development of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant
  • A 16-unit development of houses, walk-up flats and bungalows in Llanfyllin
  • 16 bungalows in Welshpool

Contractors will speak directly with the Housing Development Team and Commercial Services Team about the schemes and procurement plans.

The council is not seeking a single contractor, and all schemes will be subject to separate tender exercises.

“We’re calling on construction contractors to help us build the next generation of council homes,” said deputy leader, councillor Matthew Dorrance.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for building contractors to engage directly with us as we work to tackle the housing emergency in Powys.”

To find out more or reserve a slot, email affordable.housing@powys.gov.uk confirming preference for the morning or afternoon.

The deadline for registrations is 6 March.
