Bidding has opened for an £85 million four-year installation and minor works framework for the Medical Research Council (MRC).

The MRC is seeking contractors for its campuses in London, Oxford, and Cambridge.
The MRC intends to engage with potential contractors through a Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) event and subsequent PME activities.
The MRC supports world-leading medical research across the biomedical spectrum, from fundamental lab-based science to clinical trials, and in all major disease areas.
The framework runs from September 2025 to August 2029, with the MRC’s estate transformation aimed at establishing “world-leading” scientific research centres, and achieve a carbon-neutral status by 2040.
To achieve this, MRC requires an installations and minor works that can support a range of projects at:
- MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, Hammersmith Hospital Campus, London
- MRC Harwell site, Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire
- MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge
The following Installations and Minor Works projects are expected to be part of the framework requirements:
- Design/Installation/Replacement of scientific equipment and associated works: e.g. individually vented caging systems, autoclaves, and reverse osmosis systems
- Demolition Works
- Building Enclosure Works: e.g. roof repairs
- Building Interiors:
- e.g. building fabric upgrade works
- Decarbonisation Works:
- e.g. photovoltaic panels, solar canopies, boiler replacements
- Building Services Works:
- e.g. CCTV, air conditioning units, chillers, lighting, and building management systems works
