Willmott Dixon’s social housing specialist business Fortem has outlined plans to increase turnover to £300 million by 2028.

The company wants to boost revenues over the next three years from its current £205 million by focusing on three business streams:

  • Repairs & Maintenance (R&M)
  • Capital Works
  • Retrofit Programmes

The strategy coincides with the government’s pledge to invest in affordable and social housing stock by 2030, including energy efficiency.

As part of the plans, Fortem has promoted Judy Hegarty to deputy managing director, Kat Fidler to director of operations, and Dan Churton has joined from Orbit Housing as client solutions director.

Fortem works with 16 local authorities and housing associations across England and employs 1,200 people.

In April last year, it extended its R&M partnership with Birmingham City Council by two years in a deal worth £170 million.

Under the For Our Future strategy, Fortem will enhance operational efficiency and drive sustainable growth across its three business streams in the following ways:

  • Customer-centric approach
  • Staff training and development
  • Recruit 100+ apprentices and management trainees
  • Digital Transformation for better services
  • Zero-carbon operations by 2030

“The social housing market is responding to new legislation and regulations, as well as meeting the needs for significant stock investment,” said Graham Dundas, Willmott Dixon CEO.

“Fortem’s new strategy is a statement of intent to be a partner to help councils and housing association navigate these requirements, which is a key strategic goal of the wider Willmott Dixon Group.”

Chris Tredget, chief operating officer at Fortem, said: “This strategy marks an evolution in our processes, efficiency and workstreams.

“By consolidating all our efforts into this new cohesive strategy, we will focus on becoming the leading and most trusted partner for our social housing customers.”
