Skanska has started construction of a new office building in Budapest, adding to an emerging complex the contractor is appointed to.
Construction of the H2Offices complex began in 2020, with the first of three buildings delivered, leased, and divested by the contractor two years later.
Skanska is now starting the second building in the office complex, close to the city centre, on the Váci Office Corridor, at the site of the former HQ of Budapest Waterworks.
“Budapest market is important to us at Skanska, and I am very proud of adding another relevant milestone to the city’s office investments skyline,” said Aurelia Luca, executive VP of operations for Hungary and Romania at Skanska.
Adding: “With this one we take sustainability, technology and innovation to the next level, aiming to have the first-ever full carbon-neutral in operations office building in Hungary.”
The eight-storey building will have a gross leasable area of around 22,000 sqm and is scheduled to be commissioned in Q1 2027.
Designed by Arrow Architects, ESG credentials include the use of “low-carbon construction materials”, four-season heat pumps, on-site energy production via photovoltaic panels, and 100 per cent renewable electricity.
It is planned to be certified LEED Platinum, WELL Platinum and Access4you Gold.
Skanska is also aiming for WiredScore and Smart Score certifications.
Externally, the current courtyard will be enlarged to a nearly 3,600 sqm public space.
