James Heath has worked with commissioners to shape strategy and policy across the UK’s economic infrastructure sectors, culminating in the second National Infrastructure Assessment.

After leaving the Commission, Heath will take up a new role at business management consultant Flint Global.

“I would like to thank James for his excellent leadership, guidance and support enabling the commissioners and the executive team to produce a series of reports and the second NIA, which will inform government in the production of the ten-year infrastructure strategy. We wish James all the best in his future role,” said NIC chairman Sir John Armitt.

The Commission is an executive agency of HM Treasury, providing government with impartial, expert advice on major long-term infrastructure challenges.

The Commission advises on all sectors of economic infrastructure, defined as: energy, transport, water and wastewater (drainage and sewerage), waste, flood risk management and digital communications.

It also considers interactions between its infrastructure recommendations and housing supply.

However, the Commission’s role does not cover housing (as a distinct area), social infrastructure, land use or agriculture.
