Amey was a part of a response team to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, after flooding struck the residential area of a military estate in Bedfordshire.
As reported by the BBC, flooding caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms swept through Bedfordshire in September affecting MOD Chicksands.
Alongside the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), service families homes provider Pinnacle, Amey and its supply chain partners formed a swift response to help 24 residents impacted by the incident.
Amey claimed the recovery process stood up in record time, with families receiving support including emergency subsistence and ongoing updates.
Amey said in a statement: “Maintaining regular and transparent communication meant families felt reassured and informed during every step.”
Pinnacle Liaison Officers provided daily updates and emergency funding and within 72 hours their teams had moved families to suitable housing.
Hundreds of sandbags were also being deployed over a two-hour period to prevent further damage to properties.
Meanwhile, large tankers were used to redirect huge volumes of water – ensuring it was removed and disposed of safely.
This was followed by the clean-up operation where teams began a seven-day onsite recovery plan with CLC Group engineers stripping out flood-damaged homes and preparing temporary accommodations.
According to the Met Office, Bedfordshire saw its wettest September since records began in 1836.
Following the record rainfall, the A421 eastbound carriageway had been closed for almost three weeks.
The DIO has contracts with Amey and asset and facilities management services provider VIVO to carry out any repair and maintenance issues in Pinnacle homes.
AC Hatton, Unit Welfare Officer for Chicksands Support Unit said: “I would just like to put on record my personal thanks from everyone from DIO, Amey, and Pinnacle for the outstanding work that was carried out in response to the recent floods.
“Everyone I dealt with from all three organisations was without exception professional, diligent, and determined to do the best for the families affected – a real team effort.”
