Kori Construction has been appointed to transform a Georgian manor house in Surrey to a luxury later-living community.
Retirement living developer Birchgrove hired the contractor to overhaul the Grade II listed Banstead Place estate in favour of 54 self-contained later-living units.
As part of the 4.4-acre estate restoration, the manor house will be repurposed and include the following features:
- 11 apartments
- restaurant
- drawing room
- licensed bar
- wellness suite
- orangery
The development will also see Kori build 43 new residences in the style of alms houses, each with a private garden.
The one- and two-bedroom apartments will be surrounded by landscaped gardens, a restored pear orchard, and arboretum.
Kori has committed to hire local suppliers and offer apprenticeship opportunities as part of its social value plan.
“Banstead Place presents a unique challenge, and we’re excited to undertake this important heritage and restoration scheme,” said Jordan Connachie, managing director of Kori Construction.
“It’s an honour to work on such a significant site with deep historical and architectural value.
“This project reflects our dedication to creating exceptional later-living environments that cater to both the physical and emotional well-being of residents.
“Beyond the buildings themselves, we’re thrilled to be able to generate real social and economic value within the local community through our social value action plan.”
Kori and Birchgrove are also working on the delivery of Birchgrove’s Epsom Road development in Leatherhead, featuring 62 retirement living apartments across three blocks – their second partnership together.
In November, Kori Construction strengthened its board membership with the appointment of Scott Bartlett as construction director.
