editor

Independent housebuilder Robertson Homes has announced the appointment of a new commercial director.

Richard Kelly has been promoted to director level at Robertson Homes.

Richard Kelly’s promotion makes him responsible for all the firm’s operational regions in North East England and North, East and West Scotland.

Kelly joined the company as head of commercial in 2023 after holding similar positions at other large housing companies including Bellway, Kier Group, and Esh Group.

Based at the Gateshead regional office, he will control all expenditure and cost management, in addition to taking a strategic view of operations from land acquisition to customer care initiatives.

Now in its 30th year, Robertson Homes has 12 live or imminent developments across North and Central Scotland and North East England.

Kelly said: “The homes Robertson builds are totally different to anything else in the market, in terms of architectural and interior design, quality of construction and materials, higher specifications and appealing streetscapes.

“That, along with the ethos and customer focus of a family business makes this such an appealing position and I would like to thank John Murphy, Andy Dodds, the Robertson Homes board and all my colleagues for their ongoing support. There are certainly exciting times ahead.”

John Murphy, Robertson Homes managing director, said: “Richard has extensive experience working at a senior level within the housebuilding industry, running numerous projects simultaneously and will ultimately continue to be responsible for leading and managing the Robertson Homes commercial function, whilst ensuring a practical and cost-effective commercial service is performed.”

Robertson Construction was established by Sir Bill Robertson in Elgin in 1966 and took on its first design and build contract in 1975.

By 1976 Robertson of Elgin became a limited company.
