Facilities management (FM) business, BGIS, has announced the acquisition of Building Services Maintenance (BSM), a division of Briggs & Forrester Group, for an undisclosed sum.
BGIS, whose head office is in Ontario, Canada, said the acquisition will enable it to further strengthen its position within the UK Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) market.
BSM’s expertise includes mobile services, HVAC, combustion, and specialist electrical services.
Around 100 BSM engineers will now join the BGIS FM business.
BGIS also has offices in London, Sydney (Australia), and Naples (Florida).
“The sale of BSM follows a five-year period of strategic change in which BSM has grown significantly, providing a consistent high level of performance,” said Paul Burton, chairman and CEO of Briggs & Forrester Group.
“Clear synergy was evident with BGIS and we are mutually aligned with an employee focused ethos.
“The sale provides BSM with new ownership and investment to move the business forward further, whilst Briggs & Forrester Group will concentrate on its core contracting activities across the UK, with a stronger balance sheet that will support investment within the group.”
Gordon Hicks, BGIS global CEO, said: “This acquisition of BSM is a testament to BGIS’ commitment to the UK market. Our focus is on delivering best in class multi-trade technical solutions combined with leading edge building technologies to drive operating efficiencies and enhance occupants’ experiences within their built environments.”
