The former head of ISG’s fitout division has announced the launch of his own company.
Max Steward has teamed up with business partner Chris Pratt, formerly of BW: Workplace Experts, to set up fitout service Archer, specialising in CAT A & B projects for landlords and occupiers.
Steward said the move combines his passion for project delivery with his experience of leading £100 million business units, to create an owner-led, hands-on and precision-focused service.
Formerly, Steward was the managing director of ISG’s Agility fitout division, a role he held for almost two years after a nearly four-year stint at BW: Workplace Experts, also in a lead director role.
He also previously worked at ISG between 2007 and 2019, latterly as a project director.
Archer co-founder Pratt brings experience in commercial management and business leadership, having held directorship roles in each discipline at BW: Workplace Experts over the course of nearly three years.
Archer will also benefit from the expertise of Mike Garrett and Jacob Hegarty of office Design & Build specialist, Ikon, who will act as supportive partners and stakeholders in Archer.
Ikon, known for its high-quality installations and repeat business strategy, has achieved significant growth, with projected revenues of £16 million in 2024 and an anticipated increase to £24 million in 2025.
“Today is an incredibly exciting day that marks the official launch of my new business, Archer, specialising in CAT A & B fitout projects for landlords and occupiers, using traditional and hybrid Detail & Build procurement routes,” Steward published online.
“Just eight weeks ago, I, like many others, found myself rethinking my career path and the best way to support my family.
“I knew my next move had to bring me back to what I love most—leading project delivery from the ground up.
“I missed the excitement of assembling and developing great site teams, working closely with clients and consultants, and seeing a project come together to deliver an exceptional end product.”
He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the consultants, clients and former colleagues who have given me fantastic advice and support in the past few weeks. Testament to the unique and supportive industry we are all part of.”
