VolkerFitzpatrick has begun a £100 million-plus M27 Junction 10 upgrade on behalf of Hampshire County Council.
VolkerFitzpatrick will lead construction of M27 Junction 10 Improvement Scheme aimed at supporting Welborne Garden Village Development north of Fareham.
The project aims to underpin the creation of 6,000 new homes, community amenities and job opportunities in the region.
The improvement scheme will see VolkerFitzpatrick adding a new underpass and three slip roads to create an “all-moves” motorway junction to enhance connectivity in the area.
Working in conjunction with Hampshire County Council and National Highways, VolkerFitzpatrick will also construct a new dual carriageway link between the upgraded motorway junction, the new development and the existing local road network.
The improvement scheme is scheduled to finish in late 2026.
This follows the firms appointed to lead the £14 million refurbishment of the A13 River Lea Crossing (RLC) in East London.
VolkerFitzpatrick’s highways director Deon Scholtz said: “We’re thrilled to be a part of the M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme.
“Through collaboration and innovation, we’re dedicated to delivering new infrastructure that supports the growth of Welborne and the surrounding communities.”
Councillor Nick Adams-King, leader of Hampshire County Council, said: “Supported by Buckland Group and Homes England, this investment demonstrates a strong commitment to Hampshire, bringing new jobs and economic growth.
“With early preparation now complete, the main delivery can progress smoothly, and we’ll provide regular updates to keep road users and residents informed.”
