BAM breaks ground on £60m campus redevelopment

The development will feature ‘advanced facilities and dynamic learning environments’ to students across the region.

It will include:

• Brand new sports centre
• Technical construction centre, 
• New teaching centre, which will house all commercial outlets, including:
  • reenvisaged salons and restaurants
  • New teaching space

The development will comprise 12,500 sqm of new build development, replacing 8800 sqm of demolished buildings. 

The campus building space will increase from 18,000 sqm to 21,700 sqm, to accommodate the growth of the college, which saw a more than £10 million increase in annual turnover in recent years.

DfE’s investment aims to mark a milestone in further education for Somerset and North and West Dorset.

The groundbreaking follows ‘strong’ results for BAM’s UK & Ireland division as the group saw a slight revenue growth in its latest trading update.

Tim Chell, Regional Director at BAM, said: “Over the next four years, we’ll generate more than £15 million in local social economic value by creating local jobs, apprenticeships, and providing supported learning experiences for students, all while working closely with local businesses and the wider community. 

“We will maximise the positive impact of this project, helping to drive growth and prosperity in Yeovil and beyond.”
