Birmingham-based developer and investor, Sama Investment Group, has submitted plans to deliver 301 student beds in Birmingham’s China Quarter.
The new scheme, situated at a prominent brownfield site in the area, would be delivered across a stepped building of 4 storeys, 10 storeys and 15 storeys on Pershore Street.
A variety of amenities will be delivered as part of the transformation, including
- Social lounge,
- TV room
- Gym and workspaces
The scheme also aims to have a focus on sustainability with areas for plants and foliage as well as a biodiversity-rich green roof area.
64 cycle spaces will also be provided, with a wide range of transport links close by including New Street and More Street Station, along with bus routes.
Last month, Sama Investment submitted to overhaul a brownfield site in Birmingham in favour of two “landmark” skyscrapers standing 41-storeys and 48-storeys tall, providing a mix of residential and student accommodation.
Bilal Ahmed, founder and executive chairman of Sama Investment Group, said: “Our proposals for Pershore Street will transform this vacant brownfield site to deliver a flagship scheme that will bring much-needed student accommodation to the city, while also supporting the wider growth of the area.
“This would be a great addition for the 183,000 students in Birmingham, providing much-needed, high-quality living space in the vibrant Chinese Quarter.
“Alongside supporting the continued growth of our educational institutions, the proposals for Pershore St will help to unlock rental properties for other residents in the city.”
