Stockport-headquartered OCU Group has announced the acquisition of Peter McCormack & Sons Limited (McCormack Drilling), for an undisclosed sum.
McCormack Drilling, in Northern Ireland, has spent more than 50 years delivering trenchless technology solutions and major Horizontal Directional Drilling projects to various sectors.
OCU said it looks forward to providing these services to more clients throughout the UK and Ireland, with McCormack’s technical expertise and operational experience.
McCormack Drilling will continue to operate under the same name and with the same staff, supported by OCU Group.
In September, OCU announced the acquisition of Purestream Industries, which provides creative water and wastewater engineering, design and consultancy services to the Utilities sector.
The deal followed a string of other acquisitions, including Scottish civil engineering firm RJ McLeod.
Today’s announcement comes after OCU recently delivered record revenue, marking another year of strong growth and investment.
Group revenue for the year ended 30 April 2024 rose to £611 million, a 34 per cent increase on the previous year, with an adjusted operating profit of £58.4 million, up 13.2 per cent on the year prior.
OCU Group CEO, Michael Hughes, said: “McCormack Drilling has an impressive range of expertise and a strong and long-established reputation, which will add to our client offering and capacity as we continue to enhance the sustainable solutions we offer across horizontal directional drilling and trenchless solutions.”
Martin McCormack, MD of McCormack Drilling, added: “Since the business was founded over 50 years ago it has become one of the UK and Ireland’s most highly regarded installers of trenchless technology.
“Following the acquisition, we look forward to additional opportunities to grow our services and delivery for both established and new clients as part of the OCU Group.”
