Glencar has added to its logistics portfolio with a completion of a 240,000 sq ft carbon-neutral warehouse and office complex in West Dublin.
The firm’s Ireland division completed the project in 24 weeks for integrated freight and transportation solutions specialist PRL Logistics.
The project involved a full-fit out, including racking, sprinklers, lighting, M&E installations and associated civil engineering and enabling works.
Works also included fit-out to the three-story office space along with the provision of new welfare areas.
The project adds to Glencar’s extensive logistics portfolio, with several big projects awarded and completed this year.
Most recently, the Hertfordshire-headquartered firm completed 14 new industrial/warehouse units in Dagenham for urban logistics property developer and asset manager, Chancerygate.
This followed the firm’s appointment to the 335,000 sq ft distribution centre in Crewe and to a 62,413 sq ft industrial warehouse in Worcester as well as the completion of a £28 million multi-user warehouse in Liverpool.
In January the company posted their latest financial results, reporting steady turnover and profit along with 28 projects completed in 2023 and an average contract value £16.9 million.
The contractor reported securing an order book for 2024 worth £350 million, targeting 10-20 per cent revenue growth in the next financial year.
The West Dublin development, at Aerodrome Business Park in Baldonnell (Unit R), was developed by Exeter Ireland.
Rory McGillycuddy, country director Glencar Ireland, said:“We were delighted to work with PRL for the first time and on this impressive new carbon neutral warehouse development in Baldonell, which is a prime location for logistics to serve Dublin and surrounding areas.
“We assembled a top team on this project and they have delivered an excellent result. We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with PRL and the entire professional team and look forward to working with them again in the near future
“We continue to see further strong and continued interest in our services and capabilities in Ireland and we look forward to making further announcements in due course”
Richard Jones, director of PRL Logistics, said “Unit R is a critical component of our warehousing infrastructure, which now spans over 1 million square feet.
“This facility stands as a testament to our commitment to adopting more sustainable business practices, aligning with our broader goal of reducing our carbon footprint.
“At PRL we are on target to reduce our Greenhouse Gas emissions in 2024 by 55% due to initiatives like this net-zero warehouse and adoption of HVO.
“The refurbishment of this net-zero warehouse was executed to an exceptionally high standard and achieved a particularly challenging 24 week programme.
“The Glencar Project Management team, in particular, brought a wealth of experience to the project, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail throughout the process.”
