HG Construction has been selected by developer Avanton as the main contractor on a £160 million residential scheme on the Old Kent Road, London.
The 262-unit development named ‘THE BeCa’, with HG Construction securing a £68 million contract for the project, which is the first major residential project in the regeneration of the Old Kent Road area.
Construction is set to begin immediately at the former Carpetright warehouse site.
The development has been designed by architects Farrells and will feature two towers reaching 10 and 19 storeys high.
‘THE BeCa’ will comprise 170 New York-styled one and two-bedroom apartments for private sale, plus 40 per cent affordable housing.

- Cycle storage
- Three communal roof terraces
- More than 10,000 ft of retail space
The development is expected to finish in winter 2026, with a sales suite opening in October this year.
HG Construction recently posted record turnover, despite suffering profit loss, in its latest financial results, with revenue for the year ended 31 December 2023 increased 26 per cent to £424 million.
