The framework agreement is for capital delivery contractors and consultants to support the delivery of Wessex Water’s capital programme of work in AMP8 with the option of continuing throughout AMP9.

It follows the announcement of eight suppliers by Southern Water for its capital delivery frameworks across the strategic delivery partner (SDP) framework and the low complexity delivery route framework (LCDR).

The water and sewage company has appointed 16 suppliers across four lots, with notable partners including Kier with spots secured across three lots, and Mott MacDonald Bentley and Galliford Try securing two lots each.

Galliford Try expects the deal would be worth in excess of £400 million to the firm across the lots over the programme.

The four lots are divided into: Design & Build, Design, Mechanical & Electrical, and Civils.

The frame agreements are in place for up to 11 years and will start immediately throughout its region, which includes Dorset, Somerset and Bristol, most of Wiltshire and part of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.

Wessex Water provides clean water services to 1.4 million customers and sewerage services to 2.9 million customers across the South West of England.

Across the region, its assets include 35,000 kilometres of sewers, 12,000 kilometres of water mains, 231 water sources and treatment centres, 310 service reservoirs and towers, 2,200 sewage pumping stations, and 400 water recycling centres.

Projects expected to be awarded via the framework involve the construction of new assets, alongside the refurbishment, modification and maintenance of existing assets, both above and below ground.
