Caddick Construction has welcomed a newly created role of design director as the contractor invests in its design, building safety and compliance expertise.
The Yorkshire-headquartered firm has appointed Jason Clarke to the role, to lead the business design function, focusing on the Building Safety Act.
Clarke will also help shape the future of Caddick’s design management capability quality and regulation across Yorkshire and the North East.
In July, Caddick Construction Group launched a new headquarters amid expansion throughout the North and Midlands.
The building received a £3.8 million renovation to modernise and improve its sustainability, and increase its size from 11,000 sq ft to to 15,000 sq ft housing 130 employees.
The company also opened new premises in Birmingham as well as appointing Ray O’Sullivan as regional director for the Midlands in September 2023.
Clarke joins with 30 years under his belt as director at DLA Architecture, during which worked across multiple sectors and oversaw the design and delivery of various high-profile schemes, including:
- Central Square in Leeds
- Hyatt Hotel in Leeds
- Trinity Walk in Wakefield
Acting as a custodian of quality, design and compliance, Clarke’s appointment aims to give Caddick a competitive edge amongst other contractors.
Clarke said: “My relationship with Caddick spans many years having worked with their fantastic teams during my time at DLA, helping to design and deliver several of their most high-profile schemes in the region, such as Headingley Stadium in Leeds and Vangarde Retail Park in York.
“More recently this has included their new state-of-the-art headquarters at Calder House in Wakefield, where I will now be based in my new role.
“Using the ever-changing legislative landscape as a framework for change, I look forward to bringing my previous experiences, perhaps offering a slightly different perspective, to help shape the design and delivery narrative at Caddick.
“I look forward to working with the team to streamline design, procurement and construction to adjust to meet tighter standards, offering reassurance to clients and other stakeholders alike.”
