Homebuilder Keepmoat has partnered with Platform Housing Group to deliver 319 all-electric homes in Nottingham.
The project is part of a bigger development on the former Boots site, Beeston Canalside, which will be made up of more than 600 homes in total.
Once completed, the homes at the town of Trentside aim to be all electric, with air source heat pumps and innovative solar electricity tech panels to generate energy.
Work has now begun on the scheme, with the entire project expected to finish in 2029.
It will be the largest development for the housing association, which has begun delivering 1500 homes this year.
30 of the homes are being delivered for Nottingham City Council with 93 allocated for affordable rent and 226 for shared ownership.
Boots occupied the 286-acre site for almost 100 years before Keepmoat acquired it in October 2023, with it set to be one of the largest housing associations in the Midlands.
In March, Keepmoat reported delivering a resilient set of financial results after a challenging trading period, with revenue increasing by more than 11 per cent to £864.6 million.
Charlotte Goode, Divisional Chair at Keepmoat said: “It is a privilege to work alongside Platform Housing Group on this landmark development in Nottingham.
“Keepmoat is excited to deliver such a large number of energy efficient homes to meet housing targets for local residents.
“Our work is motivated by social value, sustainability, design and quality, and we’re proud to regenerate this former industrial site into a wonderful community.”
Elizabeth Froude, Platform Housing Group chief executive officer, said: “We are absolutely passionate about this landmark development on a very special site that will bring high quality new homes and significant investment to the city of Nottingham.”
Mark Lowe, Head of Housing and Regeneration at Nottingham City Council said: “Nottingham City Council’s vision is that homes in the city meet the aspirations and needs of both current and future residents.
“We want people to be able to live in safe, warm homes that they can afford, in vibrant local neighbourhoods where everyone can thrive.
“I’m delighted to see this development coming forward, delivered by a dynamic partnership on a cross boundary site to create much needed new housing, including new affordable homes, for Nottingham people.”
