Vistry Group has been chosen by Salford City Council to deliver 274 new homes in Ordsall, Greater Manchester.
The housebuilder has agreed a £3m enabling works contract with the council in the first step toward the £60 million project.
The Council went to tender in early 2023 to find a contractor to deliver the project which will see the transformation of circa 10 acres of brownfield land off Robert Hall Street and West Park Street.
Vistry Group’s Countryside Partnerships has now been selected as the preferred bidder, having met the council’s quality and cost criteria, and will deliver the project upon full planning approval.
The collaboration will see a mix of houses and flats with 137 homes and 137 apartments, 40 per cent of which will be affordable and managed by the council’s local housing company, Derive.
Improvements to existing public spaces will also feature in the project, as well as the creation of new public parks.
All of the homes are planned to be designed to meet the “Salford Standard” which exceeds the Future Homes Standard.
The first new homes are forecast to be completed in 2026.
Last month, Vistry formed a joint venture partnership with Sovereign Network Group (SNG) to deliver 595 new homes in South Gloucestershire, while starting work on the first phase of a new housing development in Warwickshire, promising 1,700 residential properties.
The announcement of these projects follows the latest trading update from the housebuilder, stating it is expected to be up 10 per cent growth to £227 million on completions in FY24.
Joe Turner, managing director of Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “We are delighted to deliver this new development for Salford Council.
“It will provide a significant number of affordable homes, whilst bringing a previously redundant brownfield site back into beneficial use, which is exactly what we seek to achieve as an organisation.”
