Moda Group and partner Calthorpe Estates have been granted full planning permission for 462-home tower in Birmingham.

Plans for the second phase of the Moda Group’s city gateway masterplan in Edgbaston were submitted in January, with the neighbourhood given the go ahead by Birmingham City Council on 8th August.
Fuse Studios is the lead Designer and Architect for the 37-storey build-to-rent (BTR) residential building
Plans include 462 homes for rent with tenancies available for up to three years and will feature:
- 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom homes
- Roof terrace
- 24-hour gym
- Co-working space
- Resident lounges
- 230 new cycle parking spaces
The development is the next phase of Moda and Calthorpe’s New Garden Square masterplan, to create a new gateway to Birmingham City Centre.
2,000 homes are included in the 11-acre masterplan with a mix of tenures, as well as a park, retail space, cafes, bars and restaurants, community amenities and a workspace.
The first phase of the masterplan opened last month, delivering 398-home BTR neighbourhood Moda, Loudon’s Yard.
Previous Moda Group project, the 487-home Moda, The Mercian, offered free construction training to local people and a guaranteed job interview after completing a course through the Skills Hub, which was funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
James Blakey, planning and engagement director at Moda Group, said: “This is a hugely exciting moment for Moda and a big step forward for our wider 2,0000-home mixed use masterplan, New Garden Square.
“Birmingham is in great need of quality new homes, and we are now that bit closer to delivering 462 outstanding quality homes, and a new city district providing a gateway to the city centre.”
Ralph Minott, masterplanning and development director at Calthorpe Estates, added: “Our partnership with Moda represents a new era of living and working to Edgbaston, delivering high-quality rental homes and outstanding amenities that reflect our commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable communities.”
